After the loss of his mother, Papolú, a young Nuyorican, moves to Puerto Rico with his father, a Vietnam veteran with PTSD. Papolú tries to integrate into the local culture through dance and music—passions he shared with his mother—but rejection from his peers and his father’s actions within the community complicate his adjustment
