Nació Simón

“Nació Simón” explores Caribbean drag culture not only as a form of entertainment, but also as an artistic manifestation of freedom, self-expression, and resistance against the conservative landscape in Puerto Rico.

Unapologetic Lis lives between being a nonbinary mother of two boys and a beloved drag king performer called Simón. After the COVID-19 pandemic starts, every form of nightlife is paralyzed including drag shows, leaving Lis to question what Simón means to them and their identity. Through inner reflection and with time, Simón discovers that validation and their sense of self are more than just a costume.
