Summer of Three

Set against the island’’s lush landscapes and contemporary cultural rhythms, Summer of Three offers an immersive and emotionally resonant portrayal of adolescence in Puerto Rico, capturing the fragile space between friendship, desire, and self-discovery during a transformative summer.

Following the death of his grandfather, 17-year-old Javi is forced to return alone to Puerto Rico for the funeral. Upon arriving at his childhood home, the heat, the memories, and even the wildlife, immediately convinces him that this will be the worst summer of his life. Luckily, he quickly meets Luife and Kiki, two social misfits larger than life who turn his summer around and take him on a run of adventures through the island, challenging his perspectives on love, friendship and loss. From Javi’s point of view, we encounter a modern take on a love triangle as the trio gets lost in a coming of age Puerto Rico.
