The pleasures, anxieties, and frenzy of teenage life are given center stage in this supernatural, coming-of-age horror film that serves Carrie-esque revenge steeped in millennial nostalgia.
It’s a hot and steamy summer in 2001 Argentina, just a few months after the outbreak of violence which led to a profound social and economic crisis in the country. Best friends Natalia, Mariela and Josefina have just finished their final year of high school and all fallen madly in love with Diego, a childhood friend. Natalia has always had the most chemistry with him, but just when it seems inevitable that their friendship will turn into something more, Silvia appears on the scene. Older and more experienced in every sense, she soon captures Diego’s attention. Our protagonist suddenly finds herself having to deal with heartbreak, rejection and the fear of losing everything. With the help of her grandma, Natalia decides to call on dark incantations and curses to jinx Diego and Silvia’s blossoming relationship. The spell doesn’t work, but it does lead to a new and unknown sensation inside Natalia. An unexplored, mysterious feeling that will lead her towards self-empowerment, sexual awakening and a drastic denouement.
